Lord Raglan`s 1933 Bugatti Type 51 is to be sold at an auction

The 1933 Bugatti Type 51 Grand Prix Two-Seater will be on the list of the Bonhams` Paris sale of Motor Cars, on February 5, 2011, a car owned by the late Fitzroy John Somerset. Also, on the list there will be the 5th Baron Ranglan (1927-2010), Patron and former Chairman from the Bugatti Owners` Club and trustee of the famous Bugatti Trust, the auction house being recently announced.
Bugattis can develop passions according to Lord Raglan, a passion, which in his case rose when he was 18, allowing him to race around the world. More to that, Andre Roth wrote in The Guardian that Lord Raglan could have been the pope of a religion, if that religion were the Bugatti-worship.

Lord Raglan was elected as only the third Patron of the Bugatti Owners`Club, in 1998,upon his retirement, following his successors Ettore Bugatti and Earl Howe.
The Bugatti Type 51 was bought by Lord Raglan in the year 1979, over the next two and a half years, the car was restored by himself and he also raced it in the next 20 years. Te price of this car is likel to be somewhere around 1,000,000 EUR- 1,400,000.
Another car, a 1930 Bugatti Type 46 Cabriolet is expected to be sold at EUR 250,000- 300,000.
James Knight, group head of Bonhams Motoring Department feels a great privilege to be able to offer these absolutely wonderful Bugattis, having such an honourable provenance. He also states that the Bugatti marque will be forever associated with Lord Raglan and his cars are available to market only following his death. He is convinced that collectors world-wide will be attracted by the event.
